Rise In Female Travellers Looking For “me Time” In Natural Surroundings

Saturday 22nd Feb 2020

As we head towards International Women’s Day on 8th March, surveys are showing that more women want to travel alone and that wellness and that all important “me time” are near the top of their location wish list.

There is no longer a stigma to women travelling alone. Google trends figures show the number of people showing an interest in solo travel has increased by 131% over the past 2 years and 2020 is predicted to see further growth amongst women aged between 35 and 55 in particular.

A solo global travel study by British Airways found that nearly 50% of women globally had taken a holiday by themselves in 2019 and Booking.com found that more than half of women are more likely to travel solo than 5 years ago.

The hospitality sector has responded in different ways and has significantly stepped up its offering for lone women travellers. None more so than Carden Park in Cheshire which has invested £10 million in a state-of-the-art garden spa which is a destination for the mind, body and soul and spirit.

Steve Ewing, Spa Director of the Spa at Carden says “Many people want an overall reboot and re focus on mental as well as physical wellbeing and The Spa is a sanctuary for this. We have a really compelling offer with the Spa Garden where they can experience the health boosting benefits of natural surroundings and enjoy holistic therapies using the finest natural ingredients.

Female travellers say they like relaxing in areas that are welcoming for solo guests and hence Carden Park is a popular choice with its heated pods and firepits as well as its champagne bar and hot tubs.

Steve Ewing continues “time to yourself can be life enhancing and The Spa has areas for those seeking solitude. Equally travelling solo doesn’t always mean people want to be alone, so we have areas such as the fire pits that are great for social interaction too”

Women can experience the brand-new spa with a One Night Spa Retreat, which includes a Spa Garden and Thermal Experience, as a well as a 50-minute spa ritual treatment.
